
Stornoway is recruiting for a Mine Captain. Reporting to the Mine Superintendent, the Mine Captain is responsible through his Block supervisors and crews for ensuring safe, cost-effective, on time, continuous mine production in all areas of the underground.
The position is based at the Renard mine site.

Requirements:
- DEC in Mining or other related field, pertinent experience can be considered as equivalence;
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of mining experience in a management position with increasing levels of responsibility and exposure to all
aspects of underground mine operations;
- Thorough knowledge of mining methods and procedures, relevant legislation and general management principles;
- Ability to operate a vehicle, and travel ramps and manways as required;
- Operate GSIMS program or equivalent to accurately track time worked, absenteeism, and administer bonus;
- Common core modular certification (FMTM 1,2,3,4,5,7) completed;
- Hold valid explosive permit;
- Hold a valid driver's license;
- Leadership and exemplary attitudes in term of Health and Safety;
- Good computer skills (Excel, Word, GSIMS);
- Interest and ability to work in a remote area in a context of multicultural work environment;
- Excellent ability in terms of planning, organization and execution of tasks;
- Ability to motivate teams;
- Autonomy and resourcefulness;
- Excellent written and spoken in both English and French.
